Driving in South America: Part 5 [ Peru and re-enter in Brazil ]

Peru: Most incredible country in South America.

I am thankful to my company senior who very strongly suggested to visit Peru.

Originally I had procured VISAs only for Brazil, Argentina and Chile. I was planning go to other countries and had it not been for my manager's suggestion I might have missed visiting Peru.

I was lucky to get the Peru VISA quite easily Santiago, Chile. I also tried Columbia visa but that didn't go well. My fellow Chinese traveler was not so lucky for Peru visa while he didn't need a Columbian visa being a Chinese.

Anyway I entered Peru through the town of Dessaguadero. I stayed in that small village for one day and witnessed a local festival. Women with hard hat and men in black suit drinking beer on the road and dancing together. This tradition, I guess, was given to their ancestors by Europians or might have forced them.

I reached another small but very touristic city and took a guided tour and it was beyond my imagination, again the advantage of being ignorant and being ready to get surprised.

This is a proper village, with structures floating on water. All on water, huts with 2 schools and one medical facility. Originally build to escape life from Europian attack, the people remained their now for centuries, adopting this as a way of living. Now it has become a  tourist hot spot.
From here I started for Ariquipa, well know tourist city in Peru and the road journey shows me how developed poor South American country villages can be compared to India. Talking of relativity.

Good roads, health center and all pakka makan in every village. I stayed few hour in a village and witnessed the local life and a small ceremony ( I guess it was post marriage function).

I got my bike serviced by this good lady. I was surprised to see a woman repairing the Bike while her husband on the counter. Younger man was also indigenous while I witnessed his bicycle turned to motor bike. 'Jugaad' is a world phenomenon.

I reached Arequipa
I drove till Lima.
I got health issue again which I first realized in Yuni, Bolivia. Only reason was not eating properly. I lost weight (later come back to home country, I measured I had lost 10-12 kg). I was in Lima, which is capital of Peru, but I couldn't go to doctor due to language problem. Problem was not making them understand but to ensure that the doctor has understood me and doing right treatment. Fortunately, I got help from a young lady there. It was like I revitalized. Her name was Milagros and she was beautiful. She suggested me to stay in Lima for few more days but whenever I get this much of affection and care, I got panicked. So I left in hurry towards Machu Pichu.
  • I drove from Lima to Machu Picchu but didn't go there (Left something for next travel).
  • I drove back to Brazil.
  • I sold my bike and flew back to Dubai.
So this was my motorcycle tour through Latin America. There are several life lessons made during this trip.
Did I do justice to the book, may be not. Was this trip worth? EVERY BIT of it.

The 'Ghumakkad' in me will continue to strive for such adventures.

How to sale motorcycle in Malaysia

I have been thinking that I should write a blog regarding selling of motorcycle as I have written a blog how to buy motorcycle in Malaysia. Actually it's very simple process and because I didn't know the process, I was very concerned how is it going to be happen. First of all I contacted the dealer from where I had bought the motorcycle because he had told me that he will buy it back within 1 year at a good price. I bought this motorcycle at 7000 MYR and he said that they would buy it back at around 5000. But when I went back to the dealer, the person I spoke to was nowhere to be found and some Chinese origin lady was there in his place. They inspected my bike and other things, i.e.  my papers etc. My bike had run 11500 kms and it was 1 year and 3 month old. They offer me a price of 4000. Anyway, after one week, when I had finished all my works, I went back to them and lady told me they will give me only 3000. I was furious about how they can deny on their own words. I went to ...
