My Travelling Experiences

Driving permission in any country is different for a tourist then for a resident (non-citizen but long term visa holder). Since most of the countries allow tourists to drive the vehicle with their home country license up to a certain period time (usually 3 - 6 month) but may not beyond without that country licence, like in Oman. So Far I drove in many countries (About 20 countries: 5 in South America, 6 in Europe, 7 in Asia) but have never been asked for Driving License on road. Have been asked for Bike papers, Insurance and Visa etc. but never for Driving License and that was surprising as it was for the first time that I did get an international driving License from My home country. I took two times earlier (since it is valid for one year only) but was never asked by anyone. My Driving Route through Iran in 2017 I drive around 7000 km in Iran, and it was quite a different experience than driving in Europe. I entered Iran from Azerbaijan ( Bileh Savar بیله‌سوار) border, and we can say that it was only by the grace of god that I got entry inside Iran without having proper documents for my bike ( Carnet De Passages ) or may be due to the ultimate hospitality of Iranian people. At the entry point of Iran border, they took me in a room and my bag was so thoroughly searched that I myself was seeing many of my things after a long long time ( "Oh, so its here. I didn't lose this. Oh, that is also there etc. 😅). Every bit of my bags was on the table and when I said that "I know no liquor allowed in Iran, so don't worry, I didn't buy anything like that" then the young security personnel thanked me for respecting their culture and law and concluded the search.  After the bag search, they took me to a room and I was interviewed like 30-45...

My driving map of Azerbaijan. (I didn't drive much (approx. 600 km since it's a small country). As I mentioned in my previous blog, while in Georgia, on my way to Azerbaijan, I met another motorcycle driver named Daniel and we decided to travel together. At the border, I asked Daniel to go first since he was a white man and might get some leverage. I followed behind him (we crossed at Red Bridge passing). They stopped him and took him aside, and I entered. I waited for him outside the post on the Azerbaijan side, worried. Finally, he came and told me the problem was that he had a printed map showing some part of Azerbaijan in Armenia, which upset the authorities. I'm sure if he were not an Englishman, he might have had to spend some time in lockup.  About the insurance part, the good thing was that they do not insist on bike insurance for the country; they simply sell it for $10 for one month, which is tourist-friendly. Driving In Georgia (Country) April 04, 2018 I passed through Georgia during my Silk-Route adventure and It was really special to enter this country because I had visited this country in 2015. I had tried to arrange a motorcycle on rent but couldn't succeed and returned back. This time I came to Georgia from Turkey through  Batumi  border with Oman residency card which required no Visa at that time (2017). I entered Georgia from Turkey and it was a funny / irritating / annoying Entry. Before Immigration, the Customs searched my bike for drugs etc. But they were not so skilled to deal with two wheeler opening parts. First I cautiously let them play with my bike and when they tried hard to open the seat of bike but couldn't then I agreed to help them on one condition that if I open the seat cover and show them what is beneath there, they will clear me from this inspection (of course they found nothing there). My Turkey Driving route I drove about 3000 km (Entered from Greece and Exit to Georgia)  Turkey Land Entry from (Kipoi- Ipsala Border): It was a miracle that I got Entry in Turkey because I didn't have the visa for Turkey when I planned to start driving from Madrid towards Iran via Turkey. I tried to get the visa in Madrid from Turkish embassy but it seems that they are not willing to do any service for me because (I think) I am an Asian man and not a European. I read on Google that if you have a live (Valid) visa of US or Europe, you can get the visa on arrival or you don't need the visa for Turkey. In my case I did not have US visa at that time and my Europe visa was single entry so as soon as I get out from the Europe, practically there is no live visa for me for Europe also. So I tried all other options to get out of Europe with my Motorcycle.
